Our Djembe Repair Services

Our Djembe Repair Services

Djembe Skin Replacement

The skin is one of the hearts of your djembe's sound. We source only carefully selected African goat skins, available in thin, medium, and thick grades to match your playing style and musical context. Every skin is fitted professionally with the right tension in our custom workshop for optimal projection and even tone across the entire head. Available for all djembe head diameters from 30 to 40 cm.

Rope changing & Ring Replacement

Loose or worn strings lose tension over time, degrading the sound projection and playing comfort of your djembe.

We use high-strength polyester ropes (sailing rope with minimal stretch), the professional standard, and hoops are available in traditional rebar or smooth stainless steel (rust-resistant, ideal for humid environments or frequent outdoor playing).

Bearing Edge Reshaping & Shell Restoration

The bearing edge — The edge where the skin meets the shell is critical for sound and projection. Over time, the bearing edge can become damaged, cracked, or warped. Jeremy Tomasck reshapes and redefines the bearing edge with professional precision. We also treat the wood with various vegetable oils to nourish and protect the shell, and repair cracks with appropriate wood fillers and binders.

Full Custom Assembly

Want a djembe built exactly to your specifications? Choose your shell wood (Lenke, Bala, Kolo Kolo, Melina), skin thickness, ring type, rope design, and dimensions. Jeremy assembles your fully personalized instrument from the ground up, with the same care and precision as for his personal djembes.
